VANESSA JEANTRELLE aka DJANE KI

Your favorite virtue ::
La force d'âme / The strength of spirit

Your favorite qualities in a man ::
La constance, le courage et l'audace, l'éloquence, l'intelligence de l'esprit, l'intelligence du coeur, la curiosité, la prévenance, la faculté de créer/d'inventer/d'improviser et enfin, le pouvoir d'être fou tout en ayant les pieds sur Terre.

/ Constancy, courage and audacity, eloquence, intelligence of the mind, intelligence of the heart, curiosity, thoughtfulness, the ability to create/invent/improvise, and lastly, the power to be crazy while keeping one's feet on the ground.

Your favorite qualities in a woman ::
1 - L'intelligence doublée d'un grand discernement.
2 - Ainsi que toutes les qualités énumérées pour les hommes - hypocrisie oblige.
Si je répondais honnêtement à cette question, douze associations de défense des droits (LGBTQIA+ ou -) demanderaient ma mort dans la foulée. Aujourd'hui on est face au retour de la censure, avec une société de bien pensants qui se métamorphosent en police de la pensée ...

1 - Intelligence coupled with great discernment.
2 - As well as all the qualities listed for men - hypocrisy dictates.
If I answered this question honestly, twelve rights advocacy groups (LGBTQIA+ and others) would immediately demand my demise. Today, we are confronted with the resurgence of censorship, with a society of self-righteous individuals transforming into thought police...

Your favorite occupation ::

/ I have several and yet ultimately just one, music: playing music loudly with others / creating musical pieces that immerse me in my intimate world / playing piano.

Your idea of happiness ::

/ There is deep joy that refers to "moments," while I see happiness as an art of living.
Supreme joy: when one seizes the present moment and feels alive, here, now...
A Presence that tastes like eternity...
Happiness : everyone seeks it, often without lifting a finger. However, it can only be found if we make the effort to embrace it, with the necessary sacrifices. One way is not to ENDURE - as long as it is within our power. It's a path towards freedom. I don't live: around malicious people, amidst the crowd, among exhaust fumes... Zero advertising, both outside and inside, no television, no more anxiety-inducing journalists: I seek out the news myself, in short, everything deserves to be desired and not endured. Personally, I left everything behind and came to settle (with my collective) at 1000 meters above sea level in a lunar landscape where you find 1.2 inhabitants per square kilometer, a sort of little Mongolia where the blowing wind is "harsh and strong." A return to silence and the essentials. I feel alive, in harmony with the elements and with myself.

Your idea of misery ::

/ The first idea that comes to mind - as a Westerner from an affluent country - is intellectual poverty.
Then comes the other misery, those economic and health-related realities that are on the other side of the world and surpass us.

L'informatique- ça me rend dingue quand ça se complique.

/ Computing - it drives me crazy when it gets complicated.

Mykel Boyd (°1970, Kankakee, IL) makes sound recordings, conceptual artworks, photos, installations and films. By experimenting with aleatoric processes, Boyd creates work in which a fascination with the clarity of content and an uncompromising attitude towards conceptual and minimal art can be found. The work is aloof and systematic and a cool and neutral imagery is used.

His practice provides a useful set of allegorical tools for manoeuvring with a pseudo-minimalist approach in the world of conceptual art: these meticulously planned works resound and resonate with images culled from the fantastical realm of imagination. With a subtle minimalistic approach, he formalizes the coincidental and emphasizes the conscious process of composition that is behind the seemingly random works. The thought processes, which are supposedly private, highly subjective and unfiltered in their references to dream worlds, are frequently revealed as assemblages.

His works feature coincidental, accidental and unexpected connections which make it possible to revise art history and, even better, to complement it. Combining unrelated aspects lead to surprising analogies. By applying abstraction, he creates intense personal moments masterfully created by means of rules and omissions, acceptance and refusal, luring the viewer round and round in circles.

His works doesn’t reference recognisable form. The results are deconstructed to the extent that meaning is shifted and possible interpretation becomes multifaceted. Mykel has collaborated with many sound artists, most notable is his collaboration with seah as post doom romance.
Mykel Boyd currently lives and works in Bradley, IL.

Your favorite virtue ::
All virtues opposite to arrogance.

Your favorite qualities in a man ::
It is a simple question in Marcel Proust time as it is a Marcel Proust Questionnaire, but not so easy to
answer for it now. If I say that it is manliness is a will sound as machismo ? So it is mean a priori bad ? Well, then I stay for creativity.

Your favorite qualities in a woman ::
I would like to say that it is femininity. But again creativity is the best quality in all humans.

Your favorite occupation ::
Playing. Music. Listening. Reading. Riding bicycle. Drinking coffe. Communication.

Your idea of happiness ::
If i know it I would be then.

Your idea of misery ::
Isolation.

if not yourself, Who you would like to be ::
I am happy with myself ☺

Where would you like to live ::
Antarctica looks interesting. Also countries where all time is summer time. But not so hot for sure as it is now ☺

Your favorite color ::
Green

Your favorite flower ::
Do not have such.

Your favorite prose authors ::
It is evolving all the time. When I was teenager it was Hermann Hesse, Julio Cortázar, Kurt Vonnegut as maybe for everybody in that time. Then I was fascinated by Edgar Allan Poe, Oscar Wilde, decadent writers, later come to absurd novelist as Flann O'Brien, Luke Rhinehart, Victor Pelevin. Seneca all the time. And many many more. Most recent novelist in which i enjoyed was H.P. Lovecraft and most interesting readings for me now are pop neuroscience - brain works books.

Your favorite poets ::
I am not sure for a now, but let it be Edgar Allan Poe, Thomas Stearns Eliot, Salomėja Nėris, Kristijonas Donelaitis.

Your favorite heroes in fiction ::
Hmm... I understand it as a fiction not a prose character. So let it be "Stalker" ( Alexander Kaidanovsky ) in the film "Stalker" by Andrei Tarkovsky .

Your favorite heroines in fiction ::
Do not remember some one in a fiction. But Georgina ( Helen Mirren ) in film “The Cook, the Thief, His Wife"” by Peter Greenaway was fantastic.

Your favorite painters ::
It is impossible to say how many I like. A lot. From young days I enjoyed Andy Warhol and Hermann Nitsch. Antic sculpture, Renaissance painters like Michelangelo Buonarroti ; Expressionism - Max Bechmann ; Surrealism - Max Ernst, Georgio de Chirico ; Abstract expressionism, Fluxus and all good contemporary art. Here I mentioned just let's say same old names. Are huge amount of current contemporary artists. When I come to some new place first of all I visit a contemporary art centre, museum, modern art museum, or same kind galleries for charging my batteries.

Your favorite composers ::
It is even harder to say. Everyday I try to listen some new electroacoustic, computer, electronic, contemporary music albums. To listen to all new released stuff. Searching for good, new (or old but good & new for me) stuff. So time to time I listen more to some one composer works. Such composers happened to be where ; Bernard Parmegiani, Anthony Pateras, eRikm. I enjoyed their creativity.

Your favorite heroes in real life ::
Do not have such one. All heroes has a clay feet

Your favorite heroines in real life ::

In current time it is salted curd with linseed oil & peppermint tea.

Your favorite names ::
Let it be old pagan names which we – Lithuanians – have, use a lot.

Your pet peeve (something that easily annoys you) ::
I am keeping rat as pet for some time. This time is a third one. And this one rat bites. So it is really annoying......

The change you most anticipate ::
Ending a war Russia – Ukraine

A gift of nature you would like to have ::
Some calmness of mind would be good at least to heave but then maybe I wouldn’t be myself.

How I would like to die ::
As for favorite saying of James Dean “Live fast, die young, and leave a beautiful corpse“ I am maybe too old, so I would choose to die without a pain.

What is your present state of mind ::
Waiting.

For what fault have you the most toleration ::
For all fault except arrogance

Your favorite motto ::
Many years ago I said some - „when you sleep you don't count the time“. I don’t know what it is mean but I like it still.

I went from a dancer to a painter, experimented with sound, went back to dance, continued experimenting with sound, started painting with light (making video). This is where I am now: using my body to capture sound and light and then building compositions from that.

Conduits of the hydrosphere took me a very long time to coalesce into a body of work that I felt I could explain properly. The philosophical text will hopefully be out in the next year. Until then, I hope that people will listen deeply and look at the artist book’s images, and maybe be curious enough to ask me questions.
