MICHAEL ANDERSON aka DREKKA

Your favorite virtue ::
Patience and temperance. Two things I strive to master as I get older, with a mindfulness towards stoicism. I consider myself an optimistic nihilist ; assume the worst / hope for the best.

Your favorite qualities in a person ::
My favorite quality in a person is someone who is mindful of how one's actions and presence affects those around them. Be kind, patient, courteous, and don't take one's own shit out on those around them.

Your favorite occupation ::
Sounds artist, I love my work.

Your idea of happiness ::
Being present in the moment, without undo anxiety, distraction, or financial concern.

Your idea of misery ::
Loss of personal freedom, due to physical, mental, or political strife.

If not yourself, who you would like to be ::
I would still be myself, I would just not be this self.

Where would you like to live ::
In a small coastal town in northern New England, large house overlooking the sea.

Your favorite color ::
Black, but I am not sure that is a color. Is it all color or no color?

Your favorite flower ::
Black orchid, Scottish thistle

Your favorite prose authors ::
I don't read much, due to a pretty pronounced dyslexia. I do love the first few Frank Herbert "Dune" books and the novels of Leonard Cohen.

Your favorite poets ::
Leonard Cohen, but I prefer to listen to him read his work rather than read it for myself.

Your favorite heroes in fiction ::
Grendal, Andy Warhol, Super Grover

Your favorite painters ::
Swampdonkey, Andy Warhol, orthodox iconographers like Andrei Rublev

Your favorite composers ::
Simon Fisher Turner, Gordon Sharp, Joanna Brouk, Delia Derbyshire, Adam Parks, whoever composed the Byzantine chants, the honkyoku shakuhachi compositions of the Fuke sect, or the Liturgies of the Ethiopian Orthodox church

Your favorite heroes in real life ::
I do not have any heroes, as we are all simply people hopefully doing the best we can. But, some people who I respect greatly and find important to my life are Verity Lambert, Andrey Tarkovsky, Satyajit Ray, Abbas Kiarostami, Leonard Cohen, Robert Smith, Mark Hollis, Adam Parks, Yabby
You, King Tubby, Mark Trecka, Carrie Weaver, Victor and Elsa Anderson, Steven Stapleton... and of course, the KLF.

What character(s) in history do you most dislike ::
Those deluded by notions of the "noble sacrifice of war" and blind pride, those blinded by zenophobia in all it's masks; fascism, racism, classism, etc.

Your favorite food and drink ::
Assam black tea w/ milk and a tiny bit of sugar, espresso with a bit of cream, dark chocolate, ethiopian and Indian food

Your favorite names ::
The Doctor

Your pet peeve (something that easily annoys you) ::
Modern sound devices ; the shrill pings and beeps of cell phones, the sub bass from a bump trunk... again, mindful of how one's actions and presence affects those around them. Modern life has made people self absorbed and discourteous.

The change you most anticipate ::
Real time, person to person contact becoming less and less common as people merge with their online personas.

A gift of nature you would like to have ::
I am not sure the gifts of nature can be had by anyone, contrary to popular corporate belief systems. My favorite gifts of nature are dusk, the stillness of deep, cold winter nights, the sound of rain and thunder as heard from inside my house, watching fire burn, and engaging the waves as they roll along the shoreline.

How I would like to die ::
Painlessly in my sleep ; clear minded and a little over 100 years old.

What is your present state of mind ::
Low level, controllable anxiety. Mindly overwhelmed by life, in a good way. Hopeful for the future and deeply in love.

For what fault have you most toleration ::
Frustration

Your favorite motto ::
"If you are not five minutes early, you are ten minutes late." - Leonard Cohen
"Ecstacy under duress" - Test Dept.

Active member of the improvisation collective “maDam” from Madrid. He faces the world of improvisation without looking for any specific stylistic result so his works in different ensembles or in solo include aesthetics ranging from reductionism to drone ambients, using as main sound several types of electronic elements (sine waves, noise synthesizers, etc).
